Ebonyi signs agreement for 156Km 2nd Phase Ring Road Project

The Ebonyi State Government, yesterday signed agreement with two foreign companies; CGC and CCEC for the 2nd phase for the construction of 156km ring road in the State.

The State government under the present administration had completed 43km out of the 199km ring roads which traverses eight out the 13 local governments areas of the state.

Signing the agreement at the Governor’s office, Centenary City, Abakaliki, the state Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Ogbonnaya Abara said the project was being funded by African Development Bank(ADB).

He stated that last week, the state government sign agreement for the ring road project (sections 3&4) being funded with the loan from the African Development Bank.

Governor Umahi in a statement after the signing said the process of securing the loan for the construction of the 199km ring road, started from his predecessor, Chief Martin Elechi.

He noted that the state experienced hitches in securing the loan adding that his administration came in and secured the loan, leading to the actualization of the project.

“I think the circle is completed, and we have to be grateful to God. The projects is now a reality, 199kms of the ring road. We have done about 43kms, leaving about 156kms for the contractors under the funding of African Development Bank”.

He urged the benefiting communities to ensure adequate security for the Contractors adding that any threat to the security of lives and properties of the contractors may led to the delay of the contract. ENDS
