Traffic disrupted as Shi’ites protest in Abuja

Some members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, also known as Shi’ites, are protesting in the Federal Capital Territory.

Motorists plying the Kubwa Expressway are currently stranded as the protesters blocked the road, leading to heavy traffic in the area.

The situation is the same on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway, with motorists heading to the city centre from Mararaba, Nyanya and Karu, among others, currently stranded.

The IMN members are said to be holding their annual trek.

Soldiers at the military checkpoint in Kugbo have beefed up security to ensure that the Shiites trekking from Mararaba axis do not enter the Federal Capital Territory.
