As part of his desire to touch the lives of his people Enugu born businessman Engr Evarest Nnaji popularly known as Ondengene has undertaken to construct the 5.4km Amagunze road in the Nkanu East LGA.
The philanthropist who has been investing in human development across the state said the road project is part of his contribution to the development of his people.
He said the effort is also his way of identifying with the rural development efforts of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi whom he noted has done enough to turn around Enugu rural areas in the face of economic recession and growing rate of inflation.
Engr Nnaji noted that the task of Community development should not be left for the government alone because of other competing demands and urged other well meaning individuals to support the efforts of Governor Ugwuanyi to provide basic infrastructure in rural Communities.
“The Government cannot do it alone especially with the economic realities of today.
Flagging off the road project Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi promised to fix Aguiduma Aniyi Amagunze bridge.
He assured the people of Aguiduma Aniyi Amagunze, Nkanu East Local Government Area of the state that his administration will fix the bridge which has affected movement in their area.
The Governor gave the assurance at Amagunze during the flag-off of the 5.4 kilometres Amagunze Road which is fully funded by one of the sons of Amagunze, Everistus Nnaji popularly known as Odengene.
He stressed that his administration is committed to the development of rural areas and has not left any stone unturned in changing the fortunes of the rural dwellers.
Also speaking, Engr. Uchenna Nwobodo, the Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area assured the people Aguiduma Aniyi Amagunze that their bridge which was heavily affected by the recent rainfall will receive due attention from the government.
The council Boss said that the Governor immediately he got information about the bridge, sent a team to go and access it.
He told the Governor that the team has gone and they are confident that true to his (Governor’s) character of keeping to his words, he will intervene in the bridge.
Engr. Nwobodo also thanked the Governor for all his interventions in the local government stressing that they have never had it so good in terms of infrastructure.
“Your Excellency, your goodness to our people are immeasurable, we remember when Nkerefi and Amaechi Idodo roads were impassable. You also came to our aid in fixing the bridge that connects Nara Community. Our people are very grateful,” he said.
