Interim Libyan government of PM Dbeibeh wins parliament confidence vote

Libya’s parliament voted on Wednesday to back the unity government led by interim Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibeh, which has emerged through a U.N. peace process as part of a plan to resolve a decade of chaos and violence with an election in December.

The parliament approved PM Dbeibeh’s cabinet by 132 votes to two against during a session in the city of Sirte.

“Through this vote, it became clear that the Libyans are one unit,” Dbeibeh told parliament afterwards.

He urged Libyans to “open your hearts to one another and forget the grudges”.

“It is a historic day,” parliament speaker Aguila Saleh said.
